Annie Sloan Pearlescent Glaze
The Colourist Issue 4
The Colourist is a unique Bookazine (editorial like a magazine, no adverts like a book) dedicated to sharing Annie Sloan's passion for colour. It is a collectable, bi-annual publication featuring 132 carefully curated pages bound in a covetable cover. Issue 4 of The Colourist celebrates the 30th anniversary of Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan. Focussing on a neutral palette of Old White and Graphite with a splash of Lem Lem, this edition also features Pearlescent Glaze, a special, brand new, celebratory product for 2020! In these glossy pages you’ll find an antiques feast in Round Top, Texas; home tours courtesy of the brilliantly eclectic Ildiko Horvath; the amazing space-saving hulls of Trudy Ooyman’s Dutch barge; and the treasure trove of artistry which is Farleys House. Not to mention this season’s must-have Toile patterns and how to use them, as well as a free pull out of Annie’s specially designed Oxford Toile; the career-changing women who took their creative licence-to-kill-business seriously later in life - and how it paid off; the best ways to use whites in your home and with what colour. Last but not least, the beloved step-by-step pages at the back, guaranteed to inspire painters the world over.

- Homely at Hebden is all about breathing new life into beautiful, but forgotten, pieces of furniture. We love the quality of older pieces of furniture, along with its charm and the story it can tell. Using Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan these wonderful tables, chairs and cabinets, to name but a few, are given a new lease of life, allowing the people that own them to take a piece of history into their home and future. We have a mix of styles, including French Elegance, Rustic Country & Boho.
We are also keen to share our passion, we are always delighted to discuss colour combinations, paint techniques and tips with our customers.
Our new address is Unit 18, Windsor Works, Victoria Road, Hebden Bridge, HX7 8LN
- We are a wife and wife partnership who dreamed of working together. We started out with just £50 which we spent one Saturday in April 2014, on carefully chosen items at a wholesaler and sold them on eBay.
From there we developed our business by having a website built and continuing to sell on eBay. As our business grew we found there was a demand for furniture that we refurbished in a ‘shabby chic’ style. We were running our business from our house but as it took off we were getting a little cramped so we rented a property at a business park in April 2015.
We invested some money on a trip to France and were excited to return with a van full of amazing furniture. However just as our business had started to pay for itself the 2015 Boxing Day floods hit. Our furniture was all lost, including the wonderful French finds. We lost around 80% of our business.
For a week or so we considered resigning ourselves to the fact that our dream may have been just that. However, we are finally back on our feet and have now opened a shop in the beautiful town of Hebden Bridge. We have since been approved as Official Stockists of Chalk Paint® decorative paint by annie sloan and have been trained as Colour Experts by the lady herself. We now run workshops so that others may re-love their furniture.
- There are many reasons to love Hebden Bridge, from its music, art and creativity, to the independent shops, fantastic eateries and community events.
Hebden Bridge is situated between Halifax and Rochdale and there is something for everyone a beautiful market town. Whatever your interests, there is always lots to do whether it be walking, cycling, shopping, meeting friends for coffee or visiting the Picture House.
